Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

They warm up the water so that you can take a leisurely dip whenever the occasion takes your fancy, and the range of electric heaters found here at The Swimming Pool Store are by far the most popular type of swimming pool heating systems available today. Swimming pool heaters are fantastic, they can easily be installed into your swimming pool and with a flick of a switch your pool can be lovely and cosy, regardless of whether it’s ice-cold and snowing outside; but how do these heat pumps work? We explain.

How Do They Work?

Electric heat pumps work like an air conditioning unit, in that they take warm air from outside and use the energy found in the outdoor atmosphere to heat the air. This is then pumped into your pool to warm it through.

It is this method of upgrading the energy already in the atmosphere that allows this particular swimming pool heater to be energy efficient. This is one of the reasons why this particular model is favoured by homeowners across the UK, as it cuts down on running costs.

Where Can I Find One?

Which Above Ground Swimming Pool Heater is The Best?

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

Those that are fortunate enough to own an outdoor swimming pool will understand the benefits it can bring; from a place to unwind after a stressful day at work, through to somewhere to relax and entertain during the summer months. Unfortunately, the time an outdoor pool can be used for in the UK is often determined by the weather. However, if you want to get the most out of your pool all year round then it’s important you install one of the above ground swimming pool heaters available from us here at The Swimming Pool Store.

As with choosing air conditioning for your home, the right swimming pool heater will depend on how often you want to use the pool and the budget you have available. Fortunately, our knowledgeable team are on hand to offer impartial yet honest advice about which swimming pool heater would be best for your needs.

The three main forms of heaters we offer are:

Electric Heaters:

Electric heaters are often the heater of choice for many pool owners as they’re extremely cost effective meaning that you won’t see a large increase in your utility bills. It’s also often seen as a more environmentally friendly option compared to other heaters.

Although they’re cost effective, electric heaters can often take longer to heat the pool than other heating options.

Heat Pumps:

Heat pumps also work using a small amount of electricity which enables them to transfer heat from the air into the water, providing a comfortable water temperature. A heat pump is cost-effective, easy to operate and requires little maintenance due to its durability.

Gas Heaters:

Our gas heaters come in two options – natural or propane. Both of these options are seen as a more cost-effective solution compared to electric heaters, as they’re designed to quickly and effectively heat your pool to an acceptable temperature, are easy to use and require minimal maintenance.

Each of these swimming pool heaters offer a variety of benefits and choosing the one which will work best with your swimming habits could see you increase your swimming season by up to 25%. For more information surrounding the heaters available, feel free to call us on 01494 483652.

Safe Storage Tips for Swimming Pool Chemicals

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

As the spring sun shines down during the impending Bank Holidays at the end of this month, many families up and down the country will be enjoying the benefits that their swimming pool provides. However, to ensure that you get the most out of your pool, it’s important to ensure that it’s well maintained. One way to ensure this is by adding when required swimming pool chemicals which we here at The Swimming Pool Store provide. These chemicals will help guarantee your pool water is crystal clear, but once used you need to make sure that you store them correctly.

Here at The Swimming Pool Store, we understand the safety implications of owning a pool and the chemicals which come with them. For this reason, we’re on hand to offer advice for both the application and storage of chemical products.

Below is a brief guide containing some of the tips you should follow when it comes to storing your chemicals.

1) Wherever you store your chemicals, you need to keep the area cool and dry, and make sure that chemicals are never mixed. Due to the contents of the chemicals, it’s also important to ensure the storage facility is well ventilated.

2) As with all chemicals, keep your pool products out of reach of children and pets. It’s also advisable to keep the chemicals away from other flammable materials and your swimming pool heaters.

3) Don’t keep the containers on top of each other or on the floor.

4) After use, ensure the lid is tightened and that only the original lid is used on the container. This will help to keep the chemicals secure for the next time you use them.

5) If in doubt refer to the chemical container for more information.

With your chemicals stored safely away, you and your family can begin to enjoy the benefits of your swimming pool complete with the range of swimming pool accessories we here at The Swimming Pool Store provide.

These basic tips above will help to enable you to minimise the risk of accidents occurring with your swimming pool chemicals. However, to ensure that you remain completely safe, please feel free to ask our experienced staff for any further advice you may require.

How to Use Hot Tub Chemicals

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Once upon a time, hot tubs were exclusively for the rich and famous who could afford the luxury. However, in recent years more and more homeowners throughout the UK are witnessing the delights and relaxation pleasures that their own hot tub on the decking provides. However whether you’re rich and famous or your average Joe, it’s important to have a clean hot tub, which is achieved by correctly using hot tub chemicals on a regular basis.

Here at The Swimming Pool Store, we understand the importance of having a clean hot tub whenever you come to use it; after all an un-sanitised hot tub can have serious health implications. For this reason, we’ve provided this simple guide on how to use chemicals to keep your hot tub clean and sanitised.

Whether you’re one of the lucky few who has recently purchased a hot tub to enjoy during the impending summer; or you’ve had your hot tub for a number of years but haven’t used it for a while, it’s important to ensure it’s been properly treated.

We believe the best way to treat your tub is to completely empty it and then to re-fill it. Once the water is added to the recommended level, heat the tub to 30° Celsius (80° Fahrenheit) before adding the chlorine chemical – full details of levels can be found in our leaflets.

Once the recommended time as per our leaflet has passed, use a pH test strip in the centre of the tub to test the pH level, if it falls below 7.6 add a pH increaser, and if it reads above 8.2 use a pH reducer. When you’re happy your tub is at the right pH level you can enjoy relaxing within it, accompanied by any of the range of swimming pool accessories we have.

For those of you that want to enjoy not only your hot tub during the chilly summer evenings, but your pool too, at The Swimming Pool Store we stock a range of swimming pool heaters, which along with our hot tub chemicals will allow you to enjoy bathing for the whole of the summer into the winter months.

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

Swimming Pool Water Heater

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

It is reasonably common for homeowners in warm countries to have a swimming pool in their property, yet in the UK the cooler conditions often put individuals off investing in an outdoor pool. However, there are ways to boost the temperature of a swimming pool, even when the weather isn’t so great. As specialists in swimming pool heaters, we at the Swimming Pool Store have a number of options to choose from, making a pool ready to enjoy whatever the time of year.

We appreciate that during the spring, whilst the weather is beginning to improve, the water temperature simply isn’t comfortable for many individuals. It is for this reason that we supply a selection of water heaters, these include heat pumps, natural and propane gas heaters, heat exchangers, inline electric heaters and oil heaters.

The amount of energy that a pool heater could potentially use may put some homeowners off investing in one. Fortunately, all of the heaters that we supply are tailored to the individual’s pool, meaning that they will only use the minimum amount of energy and they will be extremely cost effective.

During the summer, pool owners may not want to leave their heater running for long periods of time. In these instances, one of our solar swimming pool covers will be adequate. These covers transmit free solar energy to the water through their specialist sealed bubbles and the metallic backing prevents heat from escaping. If a heater is installed too, the energy requirements will often decrease with a cover.

Really want to purchase a swimming pool, but not sure whether the investment is worthwhile due to the changeable weather in the UK? Take a look at the selection of swimming pool heaters that we have available to purchase through our website. Further information can be requested by filling out our online enquiry form.
